In my 9th grade environmental science class, while learning about the climate crisis, my teacher said, 'Engineers are going to save the world.' Ever since then, I've had this drive to use my skills in math and science to make the world a more just and peaceful place.
Who had the greatest impact on you wanting to pursue a career in engineering?
It's sort of cheesy, but probably myself - I'm a big dreamer, and I looked up to a lot of fictional characters that could use their knowledge and skills to save the day in books and movies. And once I had that goal in my sights, I didn't want to pursue anything else!
What products/projects are you currently working on or have worked on in the past at Eaton?
I recently joined the New Product Development team, where we are pushing the boundaries of power density and footprint of industrial-level 3-phase power supplies.
I've known that I would be an engineer since I was 10 years old when I visited a university with my older sister. The robotics labs were mind-blowing and I just wanted to see how everything worked!
Who had the greatest impact on you wanting to pursue a career in engineering?
I once had the opportunity to meet with a missionary electrical engineer that designed and built radio towers internationally and I was amazed by the practical impact his work had, connecting remote villages to larger cities. I am continuously inspired by the tangible influence of engineering all over the world!
What products/projects are you currently working on or have worked on in the past at Eaton?
I am currently a design engineer for the power transformer line, standardizing mechanical components such as copper busbars and steel clamps.
I was always tinkering with things in elementary school and middle school, it made sense for me to move into engineering. I didn't know it was a career path until I started taking more electives in high school.
Who had the greatest impact on you wanting to pursue a career in engineering?
My college advisors. I remember there was a time where I was having self-doubt about being able to finish my degree, and my college advisors kept me going and helped me get out of that insecurity. Their support helped me to accelerate when I was at my lowest point in college, and their continued support in my career choice has helped me to stay within engineering.
What products/projects are you currently working on or have worked on in the past at Eaton?
I revamped a 1980's large (35 ft long!) coil winding machine during my time at PSD in Waukesha, WI. I'm very active in training SRP's around ES-A, and I'm currently working on plans for my test department to increase throughput in preparation for more STS and PDU to flow through the test department.
My parents were vital in becoming an engineer. And now I’m working on new tech that allows UPS’s to run cooler, longer and more efficiently!
What products/projects are you currently working on or have worked on in the past at Eaton?
I am currently working on a new Medical Grade 1-3KVA Online UPS with new technology that allows circuits to run cooler and more efficiently and with longer runtimes due to support for LFP batteries. I've also worked on the Legacy TrippLite 5K/6KVA Online UPS. And worked on a Line-interactive UPS designed to operate at extreme temperature environments.
My dad always took time to teach me what he knew and never let my gender or age be a deterrent for what I could do to help. He always let me hang out with him when he was fixing things and tinkering.
When did you know that you wanted to make a career for yourself in engineering?
I always enjoyed learning the ins and outs of how things worked. From a very young age, I knew I was going to be an engineer.
What products/projects are you currently working on or have worked on in the past at Eaton?
I am new to the organization, so I love being able to bring my previous experience to Eaton to help our digitization efforts. I am currently working on reviving our VAVE efforts and processes.
